The Addiction

Words tend to disintegrate
On the tip of my tongue
If they don’t stick like tar
To the roof of my mouth

Hopes are lost in the fog
Of my desolate mind
As idleness seizes my limbs
Darkness descends on my heart.

To sleep only to dream
Is an idea that was obliterated years ago
Just resting takes as much effort
As opening a heavy-laden eyelid.

Despair floods my life
And spills into yours
Once it touches your lips
You’ll be addicted too.
